As someone who lives away from the treasured island my only outlet to GAA is listening to Micheal on RTE radio. The man makes you feel like you are actually at the match, his knowledge of both codes is boundless, and for the amount of years hes doing it and to still have that passion is something we should all admire. samforall (Dublin) - Posts: 36 - 10/09/2010 16:56:06 771043 Link 0 |

Read his autobiography and you would be forgiven for thinking he is thurlesblues. He classes that Tipp team from 60-64 as the best hurling side of all time. But he wrote it in 2006, prior to Kilkenny's 4 in a row. slayer (Limerick) - Posts: 6628 - 10/09/2010 18:09:17 771134 Link 0 |

He is the voice of the GAA. I always would watch the football matches on the telly, and listen to Michaels commentary of rte radio1, makes it so much more exciting. Absolute legend! MourneArmy (Down) - Posts: 1787 - 10/09/2010 18:49:22 771184 Link 0 |

I read his book a few years ago and it was a great read. I also left Ireland years ago and I love listening to his commentaries over the internet. Even when the match itself is rubbish, he is still hugely entertaining. He's nearly as good as Effin Eddie Moroney link Gaillimh_Abu (Galway) - Posts: 1052 - 10/09/2010 19:30:18 771213 Link 0 |

He obviously never saw Limerick or Kilkenny in the 1930s, or Wexford in the 1950s. thurlesblues (Tipperary) - Posts: 4475 - 10/09/2010 20:27:59 771267 Link 0 |

Micheal would certainly have seen the great Wexford team of the 1950's playing many times. Star Gazer (Tipperary) - Posts: 436 - 10/09/2010 20:38:37 771281 Link 0 |

Absolutely love the man, a true legend and his commentary is so good it's nearly better than watching the game some days. I propose we erect a statue of the man. srb (Antrim) - Posts: 344 - 11/09/2010 17:40:51 771697 Link 0 |
