The GAA have announced that draws for the quarter-finals of the Christy Ring and Nicky Rackard Cup were made at the meeting of the CCCC this morning, while the two All-Ireland SHC qualifiers will be played in Thurles on Saturday. In both the Ring and Rackard Cups the group winners are guaranteed home venue for the quarter-finals with the teams who finished second in the four grouping being drawn at random to make up the fixtures. Westmeath's decision to field an under strength side in their game against Wicklow on Saturday last could come back to haunt them as they must now travel to Kildare to take on Andy Comerford's high scoring Lilywhites.
