Volunteers Club Notes Wexford

July 14, 2008
Congratulations to the U-14's footballers on reaching the county quarter final. With their championship hopes on the line they produced their best form of the season to account for Horeswood 2-08 to 2-05. The last time Wexford contested the Leinster Senior football final, the great Volunteers team of 50's went on to win the clubs last senior football title. The 1956 intercounty team was backboned by Vols legends Frank "Butch" Morris, John "Suck" Morris and Bernard "Barney" McGuinness. That year they also spearheaded the club to the last of our record 11 County Senior Football titles. 2008 is also the 25th anniversary of the club's 1983 intermediate football success. Plenty of good omens for the coming year. On Monday evenings from 6-7 there is U-10, U-12 and U-14 boys hurling. From 7 until 8 there is girls football all ages and from 8-9 pm there is boys Minor football. On Tuesday's from 6-7pm there is U-12 boys football. Thursday from 6-7 there is U-10 boys football. From 6-7 on Friday evenings there is Super 7's football and hurling. On Saturday there is girls football from 12-1pm for all ages. All are welcome. Training for all adult teams continues every Tuesday and Thursday at 7pm at Pairc Garman. For further information about this, the club and our underage schedules please visit, www.volunteersgaa.com.
