Leagues nearing completion

July 11, 2008
A clearer picture of who will face relegation in the various divisions should emerge this week with the completion of all the group matches in this year's football and hurling leagues. In Division 1 of the football league, Timahoe are definitely relegated, despite beating St. Joseph's last weekend. Crettyard will join them unless they can beat Mountmellick by 23 points in their final group outing. Stradbally have qualified for the Division 2 final after their victory over Ballyroan-Abbey. They hold the distinction of being the only football team in the county to win all of their league games. Ballylinan and Ballyroan will not only play-off for the right to meet them in the final, but also for the right to play in Division 1 next year. Killeshin's relegation from Division 2 has already been confirmed, and they will be joined in Division 3 next year by either Barrowhouse - who they face this weekend - or St. Joseph's. In hurling, Castletown await the winners of the semi-final between Camross and The Harps in the Division 1 final, while Camross face Borris-in-Ossory in the Division 2 decider.
