Donard/Glen club notes

July 07, 2008
It looked on Thursday when our division 4 team beat Kilbride that we were in for a good weekend, but it all fell flat on Sunday. Our ladies were hoping to turn the tails on Tinahely in the league final. After losing to them in the championship final it was looking good half way through the first half. When we went a few points up but then we conceded a few goals and only got a point from a penalty. Down several points at the break we started the second period well scoring a few points but the opposition scored a few more goals and ran out easy winners. Team was Mar Eager, Clare Metcalfe, Ciara Dwyer, Deirdre Dwyer, Andrea Birchall, Thris Keogh, Emer Byrne, Roisin Toomey, Clare Harney, Emma Harney, Nicola Conron, Mary Byrne, Andrea Kealy, Edel Wynne, Eve Whyte, subs; Siobhan Figgis, Orla Kealy, Gillian O,Neill, Claire Hanbidge, Michelle Dalton. On to Aughrim to play Newtown in the championship. We looked to be in trouble when the opposition scored 3 points without reply, but then we banged in two goals and we were back in the game. Unfortunately although we battled hard all through the second half we only scored one point from play even though we dominated the midfield sector our inability to score was our downfall. There are still a few places left on the time sheet for the Golf Classic. Get your team in  to avoid disappointment.
