Spillane in positive frame of mind

Cork defender Ger Spillane
Cork centre back Ger Spillane is focusing on the positives ahead of Sunday's Munster SFC final against Kerry at Pairc Ui Chaoimh. The Rebels were humbled by their great rivals in last year's All-Ireland final, but Spillane says they are anxious to move on from that crushing experience. "It was a big score against us, it wasn't the nicest feeling," he said. "The way the three goals went in it was a bad day all round. It just got worse and worse. You have days like that. You just have to get on with it. "We played them (Kerry) in the Munster final last year and they only beat us by two points. The year before that we drew with them down in Killarney. We gave them a bit of a hiding up here in Pairc Ui Chaoimh. "You have to think of the positives." Referring to Cork's lucky escape against Limerick in the provincial semi-final when two late goals gave them a dramatic win, Spillane said: "You never give up. You keep on plugging away, hoping something will happen. It was just one of those days when it did happen. "And, after we got that goal, there was nobody settling for a draw. It was a case of drive on, and luckily enough, we did get the second goal."
