Mulligan battling for fitness

May 09, 2008
Tyrone attacker Owen Mulligan remains a doubt for Mickey Harte ahead of the Red Hands' Ulster SFC opener against Down on June 8. The former All Star picked up a hamstring injury in a league encounter with Laois back in mid-march and missed Cookstown's league clash with Galbally earlier in the week. If Mulligan were to miss out on the Down clash it would be a serious blow to Tyrone's chances of landing Championship success this year as he has been leading the line for the Red Hands since the retirement of legend Peter Canavan, and the recent decision of Stephen O'Neill to go the same route only adds to the need of the Blonde haired attacker for the Ulster Champions. In regards to other casualties for Mickey Harte, both Brian Dooher and Joe McMahon have returned from long spells on the side-lines to play for their clubs and playmaker Brian McGuigan is steadily making progress after and two-and-a-half year layoff through injury.
