Devlin on comeback trail

May 09, 2008
Derry's attacking options are set to increase ahead of their championship campaign with the return of Colin Devlin to full fitness. Devlin, who was the Oak Leaf County's match-winner against Armagh in last year's All-Ireland qualifier, missed the entire National League after undergoing a groin operation, while he also underwent laser eye surgery in the same period. However, he made his return to club action as a sub for Ballinderry in a recent league game against Loup, and is expected to feature in the club's championship meeting with Glen on Friday night. Devlin made a big impression after forcing his way into the Derry team following last year's Ulster SFC semi-final defeat to Monaghan. He scored 0-2 against Armagh, 1-1 against Mayo, 0-1 against Laois and 0-2 in the All-Ireland quarter-final defeat to Dublin at Croke Park. The National League champions' final outing before their Ulster championship opener against Donegal on June 1 will be a challenge game against Offaly on May 18 in Slaughtmanus.
