Westmeath unchanged
May 09, 2008
Westmeath manager Tomas O Flatharta has kept faith with the team that defeated Dublin in the recent NFL Division 2 final for Sunday's Leinster SFC opener against Longford at Pearse Park.
It means there are no places in the starting line-up for midfielder David Duffy and star forward Dessie Dolan, who continue to be hampered by injury. Duffy has an ankle problem, while Dolan - who made a late appearance against Dublin - hasn't fully recovered from an ankle injury. However, both players are listed among the substitutes and could feature at some stage.
The team includes two newcomers to championship action - Garrycastle's Doran Harte has been named at left half forward, while league final man of the match Dermot Bannon from Athlone is at top of the left.
Westmeath (SFC v Longford): G. Connaughton; F. Boyle, K. Gavin, J. Keane; M. Ennis, D. Heavin, D. Healy; D. O'Donoghue, M. Flanagan; F. Wilson, J. Smyth, D. Harte; A. Mangan, D. Glennon, D. Bannon.
