Browne thought retirement reports were a joke

Waterford's Tony Browne
Tony Browne has revealed he thought it was April Fool's Day when he woke up yesterday morning to hear he had retired from inter-county hurling.
It was reported that the 37-year-old had called time on his 19-season Waterford career, but he quickly confirmed that he hasn't retired and is considering playing on for another season.
"I haven't decided on my future yet," he said.
"I never make a decision at this time of the year and I'm actually considering going back for another season. I have not announced anything yet but what I really did say was that last year was my last year.
"I can change my mind on that, but I have to sit down with Davy Fitzgerald first. Basically I have to sit down with him in December, that's the decision on it.
"I am in good shape and I enjoyed last season. I felt really good at the end of the season again. I would say it was just a complete misquote.
"I am not retired yet and I must sit down with my own family and obviously have a chat with Davy Fitz' then. Sure I woke up this morning and I thought it was April Fool's Day!"
