O'Donnellan takes charge of St. Brigid's

November 14, 2008
Former Galway selector and Salthill/Knocknacarra boss Eoin O'Donnellan has been appointed manager of top Roscommon club St. Brigid's for 2009. O'Donnellan, who played with Salthill before guiding them to the All-Ireland club football title in 2006, will be aiming to restore the Kiltoom club to the top of the pile in Roscommon next year after their reign as county champions was ended by neighbours Padraig Pearses this year. Pearses subsequently lost the county final to Castlerea, St. Kevin's after a replay. St. Brigid's, who were previously under the guidance of ex-Galway hurler Anthony Cunningham, who is one of eight candidates for the vacant Galway hurling management post, succeeded Salthill as Connacht club champions at the end of 2006 before going on to lose to Crossmaglen Rangers in the All-Ireland semi-final.
