Galway to unveil new manager next Tuesday

The identity of Galway's new hurling manager will be known by next Tuesday night. The eight candidates for the post will be interviewed this Thursday and Friday night, and a second interview will take place next Monday if a shortlist is drawn up. Galway county board chairman and selection committee member Gerry Larkin said: "We hope to carry out initial interviews later this week and complete the process early next week. We hope to be in a position to announce the new manager at a meeting of Galway hurling board next Tuesday night." Former manager and double All-Ireland winning captain Conor Hayes has been drafted in to assist in finding a suitable replacement for Ger Loughnane. The eight candidates are Michael Bond, Jimmy Heverin, Vincent Mullins, Noel Lane, Gerry Spellman, Anthony Cunningham, John McIntyre and Mattie Murphy.
