Lane: Tribesmen have what it takes
November 06, 2008

Noel Lane
Galway hurling managerial candidate Noel Lane believes that the current Galway crop have what it takes to capture the county's first Liam McCarthy Cup since 1988.
Lane is one of the eight nominated candidates to succeed Ger Loughnane as the county's senior hurling boss and was one of the star players in the Connacht kingpins' last All-Ireland triumph 20 years ago.
While he came close in his last management stint with his native county, by reaching the All-Ireland final in 2001 where they lost to Tipperary, Lane thinks that with a good structure in place that Galway can go all the way.
"There is a different squad of players there and that is what we need to concentrate on. Whoever gets the job has to be given the time to shape a team.
"The talent's there to win an All-Ireland, there's no doubt about that but the structure needs to be put in place to achieve that."
