Russell: It's too soon to decide anything yet

Mike Frank Russell, Colm Cooper and Kieran Donaghy celebrate at the final whistle after Cork were destroyed in the 2007 All-Ireland decider
Kerry's Mike Frank Russell has admitted that he won't be letting any kind of thoughts of retiring from inter-county football enter his head, at least until after his club side Laune Rangers have concluded their championship campaign.
Russell, one of the most decorated players in the history of the game, did not feature for the Kingdom at all this past summer, which has fuelled speculation that the attacker is likely to hang up his inter-county boots after this year.
However, he admits that no decision will be taken on his part until after the county championships are over, and with a crunch match against East Kerry coming up this weekend he is thinking of nothing else.
"I will take my time before I decide what to do. It's too soon after the All-Ireland final to be making such decisions," admitted Russell.
"No sooner is the All-Ireland over then we are straight back into action with the club, so I won't really think about it until later on in the year. I will wait until the club scene is over before I really look at the situation.
"At the moment, all my thoughts are with Laune Rangers and the big game we have this weekend"
The five-time All-Ireland winner did admit that he wished he had played more of a part in Pat O'Shea's team's run to the decider this year, but explained that he done all he could in training and respected the management's decision.
"Absolutely, I would liked to have played more but the management have their ideas and you just have to respect that, he said.
"I did my best in training. That's all that I can do. The rest then is up to the management."
