Russell says he felt 'degraded' by Galvin's outburst

September 28, 2008
Retired inter-county referee Paddy Russell says his altercation with Kerry's Paul Galvin during the Kingdom's Munster SFC match with Clare left him feeling 'degraded'. The Tipperary native recalls the incident when he had his notebook slapped out of his hands by Galvin. "I was just about to book Galvin," Russell wrote in his book 'Final Whistle', "when he began remonstrating. I don't recall exactly what he said, but he did shout ' you can't be serious!" "I had my notebook out, ready to open it up, when Galvin slapped it to the ground. Having to bend down and pick up my notebook was a degrading experience."
