Oram 1-6 Toome 0-9 It was sudden death for the losers in this junior championship meeting of these near neighbours and long-standing rivals but they must do it all again after they finished all square on Sunday afternoon last. A point by Oram's Michael Mone four minutes from the end of normal time saw Oram snatch a draw in this hotly contested Junior Championship clash at sun swept Blackhill. Toome had opened very strongly with impressive performances in the centre of the park by Stephen Quinn and Paul Kelly but some poor finishing in this opening period prevented them from putting real distance between themselves and a highly competitive Oram side. When Oram found the target in the 11th minute this was to be the clarion call for a step up in performance and over the following fifteen minutes they eclipsed Toome in most quarters to open up a four point lead. The Oram recovery was driven from the back with Lorcan Keenan, PJ Flanagan and Steven Mone to the fore. It was only in the final five minutes of the first half that Toome regrouped to launch the beginnings of a comeback. That was momentarily halted in the opening minutes of the second half. But their determination continued to shine through and as the game moved towards the last quarter they moved into the ascendancy as they took control in the centre again and their defence, anchored by the Lambe brothers Alan and Stephen, showed great resilience against the best efforts of Oram. Up front Gavan Flanagan and Gerard Cunningham were causing real problems and with five minutes to go they went in front and looked destined to slip it over Oram. But credit to Oram, they dug deep in adversity and in the final hectic minutes they battled back into contention forcing the game to a replay.
