Blessington club notes

September 13, 2021

Good Evening everyone, we had another busy week of games and activity both home and away. We’ll start by congratulating our Ladies U16 on their County Final win in Aughrim on Saturday against Tinahely. The club and team mentors are extremely proud of you all. Full match report will follow in notes.

Senior Men travelled to Baltinglass on Friday evening for the Herbie Hill cup final. Unfortunately things didn’t go well for the lads and they were beaten by Baltinglass on a score line of 1-17 to 1-10.  It’s time now for the lads to put this behind them and concentrate on the first round of the championship which takes place on Sunday 26th in Aughrim against Dunlavin.

The lads started much better and worked hard way through to the end to get well deserved 3 point Win. Well done to all the Panel tonight after a tough match Wednesday Night at home to Eire og which after battling very hard to the end lost by few scores.

Continuing on with the good news U15 Div 03! What a performance again by this squad away to AGB on Early Sunday am .We went behind a few times in game and with 10 minutes to go We were 3 points down. But by doing what  this group do best work hard right to final whistle we scored 1.1 in last few minutes to come away with another fantastic away win. Thanks to players and Parents for getting bare 15 players out and travelling long distance to fulfil fixture which is key for Development of these lads. Thanks especially to ‘08 lads Jamie/Cillian and Harry for helping us to field Team. Final score 1-07 to 1-06.

U11’s

On Thursday evening our U11’s Blue team played at home versus Bray Emmets. The first half was an evenly balanced half with our lads leading by just the one score at half time.

After a good talk with the lads at half time they came out all refreshed and put in a fast and clinical performance and managed to keep the visiting team from scoring.

There was a lot of great teamwork on show throughout the match and this resulted in some impressive worked scores.

There were a lot of contenders for POTM this week but it goes to Conor Murphy for his overall contribution to the game and for his determination to win each ball.

Final score:

Blessington 76

Bray Emmets 14

U10’s

Our U10’s had a hard fought win away to Aughrim tonight. Aughrim started off strong and were very strong in the tackle. Blessington got to grips with them in 2nd quarter and moved the ball very well and taking some great scores. Blessington 48 Aughrim 12
