Blessington club notes

June 08, 2021

Good evening everyone. It’s great to see so much activity on our grounds at the moment. All teams are busy training in preparation for upcoming fixtures. Some will be continuing on with fixtures that weren’t played last season due to the Covid 19 pandemic, so we want to wish everyone the very best of luck in all of your upcoming games. We had a great response from members with registration all last week and we ask that everyone has paid their fees in part or in full before any matches take place this week. Thanks in advance.

Also there is plenty of maintenance going on too, we had 120 tonne of sand on each pitch last week, then brushed and rolled and then shock aerated, so the pitches should be in good nick this season. There is also upgrading being done to our facilities container which is out of service for another few days so everyone please bear with us while these upgrades are taking place.

Senior Men, will take on Na Fianna in a challenge match at home on Tuesday evening @7pm ahead of their First league match also at home against Tinahely on Sunday 13thJune @11.30am. The lads have been training so hard over the last few months and the commitment and effort shown by every one of them has been excellent. The very best of luck to the Team and Management.

Junior A will kick off their league on Friday 11th @7.30pm when they take on Avoca at home. Come along and support the lads on our main pitch.

U15’s travel to Bray on Monday 7thJune to take on An Tochar @7pm. This is a semi

U13’s White squad take on Michael Dwyers in Donard also @ 7pm on Wednesday 9th June. The very best of luck to both Teams and their management.

U11’s Boys’ Div 1 will play St. Patricks in Ballinakill @11am Monday 7th June. This is a final from last year’s fixtures and we wish you all the very best of luck. Enjoy the day guy’s.

U11’s Boys’ Div 3 will face Kiltegan in Baltinglass @11am also in a final from last season. Enjoy the game and we wish you all the very best of luck.

Hurling . The County Minor Hurlers, Sam Gough Austin Brennan and Adam Williamson were selected last week for  the County Squad. Sam and Austin were also chosen for football squad. Well done to the lads.

Well done to our U8 girls, U7 boys and U8 boys who took park in an in-house blitz during training on Saturday morning. We had over 90 kids in action, many of whom playing their first ever match. It was a great opportunity for the kids to develop team spirit and demonstrate all the skills they have been working on in training. Thanks to our young whistlers; Jane, Dylan, Adam, Ethan, Conor and Sadhbh. It's great for our young players to get so much support and guidance. Looking forward to a wonderful summer of Go Games for these young Blesso stars.

There was a great turnout again for the Acadamy on Saturday morning. Thanks as always to our helpers Cormac O’Loughin and Sean Ellis and our Ladies Emma McLoughlin, Saidbh Fisher and Orlaith Ni Ghallachobhair.

Our All Stars had a great sunny Sunday morning, with plenty of fun and games. Thanks to Conor & Brian Richardson and Oisin for your help, it’s very much appreciated.

Blessington Senior Men & Adult Ladies Fundraiser

On Saturday 19th June we will take to the hills of Lacken and beyond, hiking to raise funds for the club and charity partner

Féileacáin (Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Association of Ireland) (to whom 40% of the proceeds will be donated). We chose the amazing Féileacáin charity in support of our much loved club mate Wayne, Lisa & families on their tremendously difficult heartbreak on the loss of baby Luka.

We would love to see as many club members and the wider community join us in coming together to support this truly worthy cause in memory of Luka.

If you would like to come and join us on the hike (starting & finishing at Cullen’s Ballyknockan), book your slot ASAP as they are filling up fast. The more participants the better(small groups at a time)

Our GoFundMe link is now live  https://gofund.me/10ad23ce

Please donate and share.

Donations can also be made to any player involved through their sponsorship cards.

We look forward to the memorable occasion.

Keep an eye on our socials for more details over the coming weeks.

Club logo facemasks and snoods are now available to buy from Lisa & Michelle.
