Junior C –The lads are in the Wicklow JCFC final on Sat 10 Oct in Aughrim v An Tochar at 1pm following a very exciting match v Donard/The Glen in Hollywood on Sat 3 Oct. At half-time the score was level a 0-3 each. Jake O’Kelly found the net early in the second half to lead 1-3 to 0-3pts. However, Donard/The Glen drew level to Blessington 1-4 to 0-7. Blessington scored 3 points and at the last kick of the game Donard/The Glen put over a point and Blessington celebrated a fantastic win to reach the final. U15 – Well done to the U15’s who defeated Carnew in the B championship Rd 5 on Wed 30 Sept in Baltinglass. Other results also went their way, and they have now qualified for the Championship Semi-Final.  

 

U13 – Good win for our Div 1 U13 team away v Bray which means both our U13 teams are in semi-finals after the Div 3 team had good win at home on Sat v Eire Og. Well done to players and coaches. Great to have 2 competitive squads at this age group. The Div 1 and Div 3 teams were due to play in the semi-finals on Sun 4 Oct but due to the weather the matches were postponed. TBC U13 white v Michael Dwyers in Donard on Wed 7 Oct. U13 Blue v St Nicholas at 6.30pm in the A championship semi-final on Thurs 8 Oct in Baltinglass.  

U11 – Sat 10 Oct in Ballinakill in the Div 1B Final Blue team v St Patrick’s at 11am. Also, at 11am the White team v Kiltegan in Baltinglass in the Div 3 A Final.  

U9 – What a morning in Baltinglass for the U9’s Go Games. The wind and the rain didn’t bother the kids and every one of them were brilliant. Well done to everyone. On Sat 10 Oct away v Raheens x at 3.30pm.  

U7 – Home v Ardclough on Sat 10 Oct at 2.30pm.  

Academy - Thanks to Shauna Byrne, Anna Vas, Martin Shannon and Thomas Donohue for their help at the academy on Sat 3 Oct. The 32 boys and girls really enjoyed it.  

Ladies 

Junior – Well done to the Junior (B) team who beat Barndarrig in the championship final in Laragh on 4 Oct in the most horrid weather conditions. At half time Blessington trailed by 2 pts on a scoreline of 1-2 to 1-4. However, the girls came out of the blocks into the second half to command the field and Barndarrig only succeeded in scoring a goal in the final kick of the game in the second half. The final score was Blessington 2-10 Barndarrig 2-04. The girls were fantastic.  Well done to team and management.  

Minor – Super start to the Minor Championship for our White Team away v Clan na Gael. A very impressive team performance all round with every player playing a big part. Result 11-18 to 2-1. Hurling  

Junior – Michael Dwyers - The lads now head to a Junior B final. Details next week.  

U15 – Western Gaels v St Patrick’s in the A championship semi-final on Wed 7 Oct at 7pm.   

U13 – Western Gaels v Glenealy in the B championship final in Ballinakill at 5pm. 

U11 – The Western Gaels U11’s lost out to a strong Arklow Rocks in the finals on Sat 3 Oct in Ballinakill. The Gaels were slow to start and redeeming themselves in the 2nd half to lose by 7 scores. Thanks to the young hurlers, parents and supporters for travelling on the day.  

U7/U9 – TBC Go Games on Fri 9 Oct.  

 

Blessington Prize Draw - Blessington GAA are running their only fundraiser this year. Draw will be held on 31 October 2020. Items need to be replaced e.g. boiler (not cheap) and repairs need to be carried out and pitches maintained. It's a hard job to keep everything in order and it costs! We are proud of our facilities and we are all proud Blesso members. Every adult and child benefits in many ways by being a member - training a couple of times a week, socialising, mental health, sense of community, presentations, memories etc. The club that we wear the "Blue and White" for. Let the past, present and future of the club play their part in maintaining the fantastic facilities we have. Each family and each adult member to sell ten €10 tickets. Let's spread it that everyone plays their part. Don't put the tickets in the back of the drawer. The promoter will drop tickets to all over the next couple of days. We are all in it together. "Come on the Blues" We will be making a donation to the Irish Cancer Society from the proceeds of the ticket sales. 1st prize - €2000, 2nd prize - €1000, 3rd prize - €500, 4th & 5th prize - €250 and 5 prizes of €200. Acknowledgements – The club received a lovely gift frame from the Roar for Ruairi charity thanking the club and members for donating €2410 to assist Ruairi in his battle to daily challenges. The club also received a thank you letter for our kind donation from Frances Smullen on behalf of the Cancer Trials Ireland which will help continue their important research work.

Healthy Clubs – The HCP are delighted to announce that after a huge success last Sunday morning we will be continuing with our Sun morning session with the amazing children from Blessington and the surrounding areas. These children possess unique needs and abilities but are all so eager to take part in the training offered by our coaches. Unfortunately, the weather was not in our favour this week, but we look forward to welcoming them all back next Sunday.
