Minister of State for Sport Jack Chambers has condemned the violent scenes which marred last Saturday's Leinster Club Intermediate Hurling quarter-final between Naomh Barróg and Oulart-The-Ballagh, and has called for a full investigation into the incident.

Leinster Council has already promised to probe the brawl at Parnell Park which involved players, mentors and supporters, and was captured on a camera phone by a spectator. Footage of the incident has since been widely circulated on social media.

"We've seen strong sanctions for other violent incidents that occurred during the summer and since then, and we need to see similar follow through on sanctions for anyone involved in such a melee," the Minister told RTÉ.
