Minor Ladies claim County Title!

Garrycastle GAA grounds have proved a happy hunting ground in 2022 for St Josephs LGFA teams as the Minor Ladies claimed a hard fought 2-16 to 4-05 win over Caulry on Sunday 27th November.

A slow start which saw St Josephs in arrears for most of the first half. At 1-3 to 0-3 behind midway through the first half, the girls battled hard to draw level at half time to retire at 0-6 to 1-3. St Josephs got the first point of the second half but fell behind to two rapid fire goals from Caulry to trail by 3-3 to 0-7 with just 5 minutes gone in the half. A determined period of play saw the girls click into gear and in a 12 minute spell of dominance, they fired home 2-6 without reply to turn the game on its head. As the match headed into its final phase, St Josephs led by 2-13 to 3-3 with 10 to go.

Caulry did claim a fourth goal late on to move close but in the end, St Josephs had too much in hand to deservedly claim the Division 2 Minor title for 2022. This win caps off not just a fine year for the ladies club but for all in the St Joseph's fold. Congratulations to the Girls for the great win in Sundays Minor final and it looks like there will be more days like this.
