Under 15 Division 2 Championship semi-final.

Southern Gaels: 3-18 Delvin 2-11

Southern Gaels booked their placed in the Division 2 final after a heart stopping performance against Delvin in a wet and dreary Páirc Chiaráin last Saturday evening. Gaels got off to the worst possible start shipping two goals and a point before the first water break and cause consternation on the side-line as management struggled to stem the tide. There then began what will be long remembered as a roller coaster ride of a comeback which saw the home side claw themselves back into the game against a solid Delvin side and when the referee blew the whistle the silence was deafening as all awaited the result. As he declared a draw the gasps of relief from the Gaels were as audible as the groans of despair were from the opposition. Gaels in extra time showed why they deserved to be in the final as they outscored the brave Delvin lads by 2-5 to 0-1. All the Gaels side played well and the bench was emptied throughout. In particular, Stephen O’Connor, Anthony Mannion, Dara Shortall, Ruairí Ó Duibhir, Seán O’Donoghue and Dean Burns showed why they are first choice starters at the moment. An October date with neighbours Fr. Dalton’s in the final now awaits.
