Junior Football Championship

We play our next group game in this years championship at home to CFCW on this coming Saturday evening, 18th September, at 5pm. As this is a home game for us, it would be great to have a good turnout of support to cheer on the lads in this important game. Tickets are available for purchase online, players and committee members will have the details and the link will also be on our Facebook page.

U17 Division One Shield Semi-Final

Lilliput Gaels 5–10  Athlone 2–18

On Monday last night, we played Athlone in glorious conditions at the Ballinagore GAA pitch. A minute’s silence was observed prior to the game as a mark of respect for the sad passing of Aoife Mangan, Dalystown. We started the game very well and went in with a commanding lead at half time. Athlone came back into the game in the second half and went a point ahead. Thankfully we fought back for a draw. It then went to extra time and Athlone went two points ahead but a goal in the last few minutes was enough to get us over the line. It was a very entertaining game of football by both teams. We now play Shandonagh in the Division One Shield final. Team: Oisin Kiernan, Christian Dowling, Odhran Gavigan, Sean Jackson, Killian Jackson, David Maloney, Dylan Franzoni, Cathal Eliffe, Shane Doran, Jack Gannon, Philip Reynolds, Shane Corcoran, Jack Mulligan, Conor O’Malley, Peter Murphy. Subs: Adam Clarke, Niall Claffey, Sean Macken, Andrew Dalton & Ronan McLavin.

Sympathy

We extend our deepest sympathy to the Marshall family, Ballinagore on the sad and untimely passing of Anthony Marshall. Anthony was a devoted member of our Tidy Towns committee and they penned a lovely tribute to him as follows: Anthony was on the tidy towns committee for many, many years. His knowledge of flowers and nature was in abundance, his own beautiful garden filled with roses, lupins, hydrangeas, vegetables & much more is a testament to that!! His knowledge of the history of the village was second to none & he would often tell stories of the various mills that once stood in Ballinagore. He was extremely talented at wood turning and you could often hear the lathe going as you passed his house. He was so generous with his crafts that many houses around the village have one of his bowls, pens or lamps. He always donated a few pieces of his beautiful woodwork to our raffles to raise funds for the Tidy Towns. We will keep these lamps shining brightly for Anthony, a great neighbour, a gentleman & a dear friend. Anthony you will be missed. May he Rest in Peace.
