U-15 Shield Champions

St.Vincents were crowned 2020 U-15 Shield champions on Saturday last after they defeated a good Delvin team. Vincents paved the way for success as they built up a big lead in the 1st half, banging in four good goals in the process. Delvin to their credit, battled till the end but the lead the victors built up proved too much. Well done to all the players, the mentors and all from both clubs who played a part in the success. Championships are hard won at any level, and this one was no different. A good few of these lads also won a national feile title a few years ago. Hopefully, we’ll see them all lining out for St.Vincents for the next few years, and for their clubs at adult level.

David Smyth Catering

We would like to thank David for providing and cooking food for both teams, mentors and indeed everyone present, after the under 15 final, a truly generous gesture.

Get Well Soon

We would like to wish our main sponsor, Martin O’Donnell of Lakeshore Bathrooms a speedy recovery, as he was hospitalised recently. There are also others in our community and parish who are battling illness at the moment and it’s important that we keep them in our prayers and our thoughts, we hope to see all out and about as soon as possible.

Hurling League Division 1A

Crookedwood 0-9 Clonkill 2-14. Round 2 of the league saw Clonkill visit Crookedwood. The first quarter was uneventful and Clonkill held a two-point lead at the water break, as defences were mainly on top. Things didn’t get much more exciting for the second quarter but the visitors did add two more points than us to the scoreboard, half time Crookedwood 0-5 Clonkill 0-9. We started the 2nd half brightly, scoring the first two points and Clonkill replied with a point. A small shemozzle resulted in a red card for each side, and ultimately the game was decided in the following five minutes as Clonkill responded better and scored 1-3 to open up a nine-point lead. Barry & Noel replied with points to keep us in touch but as the lads tired in the warm conditions Clonkill added a point and then a goal in injury time to run out comfortable winners. Although beaten, the boys put in a massive effort, and this showed with the tiring legs towards the end. Team: Antoin Savage, John Kiernan, Damien Grifferty, Kevin Orme, Ronan Scally, Seamus Savage, Johnny Nally, Eddie Nally (0-1), Shane McGovern (0-1), Brendan McCarthy, Barry O’Mara (0-5), Noel Yourell (0-2), Simon McCarthy, Brian McLoughlin, Ger Brennan. Subs used; Enda Murray for McLoughlin, Oisín Boyle for S.McCarthy.

Hurling league Division 3A

Crookedwood 1-11 Clonkill 2-19. In round to of 3A, we made the short trip up the road to take on the home team. After a poor first half we trailed by eleven points at the break and left ourselves with a mountain to climb. An improved second half showing saw us hurl a lot better, but we could not make any inroads into Clonkill’s lead, losing out by the same margin in the end. Team; Adam Mitchell, Cathal Bawle, John Kiernan, Jack Butler, Oisin Boyle, Seamus Savage (0-2), Cian Yourell, Johnny Nally (0-1), Aran Whelan, Simon McCarthy (1-0), Noel Yourell (0-3), Ciaran McGovern, Noel Kiernan, Ger Brennan (1-1), Enda Murray (0-2). Subs; Ciaran Bawle for Aran Whelan (inj). Well done to Cathal Bawle who made his adult start in this match.
