St Josephs club notes

June 08, 2021

Jack Farrell RIP;

There was a great sense of sadness and regret in the locality last Monday when news began to filter through on Monday morning of the sad and untimely death of Jack Farrell. News of Jack’s death stunned the community. Jack was well liked and popular among his peers and had played football at underage level with the club through all grades and despite taking a break in recent years had recently resumed training with our Junior team. His loss is great especially for his heartbroken parents Sharon and Finian and his brothers and sisters Joachim, Hubie and Mary Catherine, his grandparents,uncles, aunt and wide circle of friends. A massive turnout of club members honoured Jack with a guard of honour in Horseleap on Thursday afternoon and while undoubtably a very sad and sombre occasion, the turnout was hugely respectful of Jack’s all too short time with us. I think the old Irish blessing is apt on this sad occasion;

May the roads rise up to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
May the rains fall soft upon fields
And until we meet again
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.

Go Raibh Suaimhneas Síoraí Air.

Games recommence next weekend!

For the first time since last autumn, St Josephs teams will be back on the playing fields next weekend with two games down for decision. First up it will be our Junior team who play Mullingar Shamrocks in the opening round of the league at Springfield. That game will be on Sunday 13th June at 1-30pm and it will be great just to get started once more. Championship commences early August and the leagues are formatted to give clubs games to prepare for the championship so it will be interesting to see how our first outing goes. At Underage level we start with a County Final!! The Under 15 Champioship final from 2020 fell victim to lockdown last October and on Monday 14th June we play Multyfarnham in the final. This game is also in Springfield and has a 7-00pm throw in. The lads have been preparing diligently in recent weeks but it is hard to know how the game will go as it has been so long since anyone has played. We wish the guys the very best of luck and hopefully a county title can be won.

Lotto Jackpot Now €6400!

Our most recent draw was held on Sunday 30th May at the Community Centre for a Jackpot of €6300. The numbers drawn were 6,17,23 and 24 and there was no Jackpot winners. We had two match three winners of €50 each and they were Michael Galvin Horseleap and Paul Dunne C/O Grange Motors Mullingar. Next Draw is on Sunday 13th June at 8-00pm.
