Harlesden Harps club notes

September 13, 2021

Upcoming fixture:

It’s county final time (again)! Harlesden Harps are in the Intermediate Championship final this coming Sunday, 19th September at 2:30pm, against St Josephs at the county ground of McGovern Park in Ruislip (14 Masson Avenue, HA4 6QU). Extra time an penalties will be used if required on the day. As usual, make sure you check public transport is in use and for any likely traffic delays, etc and ensure everyone is at the venue nice and early for a proper preparation for the game.

Keep an eye on https://twitter.com/harlesdenharps during the week for any changes to the match details.

Previous matches:

The Harps dug-out an epic AET win in the semi-final of the Intermediate Championship with a gutsy, battling performance against Garryowen. The match ebbed and flowed both ways with both sides having spells on top in the game. Ashley O’Halloran led the scoring stakes finishing with 1-05 to his name. In all we had nine different scorers on the day including another major from Jack McShane and crucial points from the likes of Ryan McSherry, Dan Howlin and Danny Somers ensuring a hard-fought 2-16 to 1-18 win.

It’s been a brilliant return to the Intermediate stage for us so far, let’s hope the winning run continues and we capture more silverware in the final (see above).

Training:

Training continues every week taking place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, at 7:00pm in The Shamrock Club, 307A Horn Lane, Acton, W3 0BP (nearest tube station: North Acton on the Central Line). A physio will be there on Tuesdays for any niggles you may have. Any new players wishing to "play a bit a ball" are very welcome to come along to this well-run club. If needed we can offer good jobs, along with accommodation and a social life to our members. Transport to and from training and pick up from local stations can also be arranged.
