Thomas McCurtains club notes

October 22, 2019

The Footballers dug deep in the second half of their All Britain Quarter Final to get the win against the Lancashire Champions, Oisin. Conditions were wet but McCurtains got a strong start and opened up a two point lead playing against the wind. Oisin slowly managed to get themselves back into the game but two goals from Sean Murphy after 20 minutes and Niall Coffey from the spot five minutes later put McCurtains ahead by six. Oisins again rallied and kicked the last 3 scores of the half to leave three between them at the break.

Oisin came out of the blocks in the second half and found themselves with the lead early on thanks to two quick goals of their own. The Macs however rose to the occasion and kept the scoreboard ticking over to lead by three with time running out. Oisin started throwing men forward and a dangerous ball into the square drew a foul from the McCurtains defenders and the ref gave the penalty. Oisin converted it to draw level with only injury time remaining. The lads from East London refused to panic and controlled the flow scoring two fantastic points to seal the game late on.
