Galway defender Sean Kelly has been cleared to play in Saturday week’s All-Ireland SFC semi-final against Derry.

After being sent off in the Connacht champions’ win over Armagh last Sunday at Croke Park, Kelly’s appeal against a one-match ban handed down by the CCCC this week has been successful.

The Tribe captain was in danger of missing the last dour showdown against the Oak Leafers after David Coldrick had sent him off at Croke Park just prior to extra time for 'contributing to a melee’.

Video footage of the incident time showed him trying to restrain the outbreak that occurred between the two teams at the end of normal time.

Armagh joint-captain Aidan Nugent was also red-carded along with Kelly before the start of extra time, while it was also confirmed yesterday that Orchard squad member Tiernan Kelly received a proposed six-month ban for his part in the incident.
