Former Wexford boss Davy Fitzgerald could be set for a return to the inter-county stage as a coach with the Cork senior camogie team.

With Matthew Twomey expected to take over the reins as manager from Paudie Murray, Echolive.ie reports that Fitzgerald is set to be part of the Douglas clubman’s backroom team.

Fitzgerald’s name has been heavily linked with the position over the last few days but the postponement of last night’s camogie board meeting suggests that the search for a management team in the Rebel County has not yet been finalised.

Last month saw Fitzgerald in the running to be named Galway’s next senior hurling manager before Kilkenny legend Henry Shefflin was appointed in a surprise twist.

The Clare native spoke about taking some time out of the management afterwards, but it seems as though Twomey may have swayed him away from that decision.

This year saw Cork reaching the All-Ireland senior camogie final, losing out to Galway by three points.
