Despite the inclement weather conditions, these hurlers delivered in style for their respective teams in round 3 of the Allianz hurling leagues…
1. Mark Fanning (Wexford)
Beats off stiff competition from Carlow’s Damien Jordan for the number one jersey after producing a number of fine saves in the two-point win over the Cats.
2. Liam Corry (Clare)
Conditions were difficult for both sets of players in Ennis and Brian Lohan will have been happy with his corner-back’s display.
3. Liam Ryan (Wexford)
When their backs were against the wall, Ryan and his Model County team-mates dug deep to secure the two points that were up for grabs.
4. Donncha Hartnett (Laois)
Hartnett and Laois gave as good as they got in the opening half against the Banner County but fell off the pace after the break.
5. Gary Bennett (Carlow)
The Barrowsiders fell to a third defeat and now face a make-or-break Division 1 clash away to neighbours Laois next Saturday.
6. Aonghus Clarke (Westmeath)
Cork were made to sweat by Clarke and his Westmeath team-mates before coming away from TEG Cusack Park with the two points.
7. Daire Gray (Dublin)
Dublin got the job done against Carlow and Gray found the target with two points in Netwatch Cullen Park.
8. Rian McBride (Dublin)
McBride sent over four points as Mattie Kenny’s side put themselves firmly in the frame for the business end of the competition.
9. Tony Kelly (Clare)
Clare’s Mr Consistency contributed eight points (three from play) in their 0-17 to 0-9 success over Laois in Cusack Park.
10. Shane Conway (Kerry)
Fresh from his Fitzgibbon Cup winning heroics with UCC, Conway pointed the Kingdom to a win over Meath in Trim.
11. David Reidy (Clare)
Clare made it three wins from as many outings and Reidy was one of their standout performers.
12. Jack O’Connor (Wexford)
The half-forward raised three white flags in the win over the Cats.
13. Martin Kavanagh (Carlow)
The St Mullins sharpshooter clocked up six points against the visiting Dubs.
14. Richie Hogan (Kilkenny)
The Danesfort ace was at the forefront of the Cats’ second-half revival but they came up short in Wexford Park.
15. Patrick Horgan (Cork)
Horgan’s return of 2-8 was instrumental as Cork saw off Westmeath’s brave challenge.
