James O'Donoghue is pushing for a place in Kerry's 26-man All-Ireland final match-day panel.
Manager Peter Keane confirmed at yesterday's press event that the 29-year-old forward, who has been plagued by shoulder and hamstring problems in recent years, has returned to training ahead of the September 1 showdown with Dublin.
“He’s very close. Everyone is okay. We met up last night, had a bit of a training session, everybody was fairly okay so we are happy enough with where we are at," Keane said.
“The other side of it is that you have 30-odd fellas who are available for selection. His name [O’Donoghue] keeps cropping up by ye, but every other fella inside in that squad is looking for a spot as well. They are all reasonably in good shape.”
