Roscommon SHC final: Pearses prevail in extra-time

September 27, 2020

Dr Hyde Park was the venue for the Roscommon SHC final.

Padraig Pearses 2-22

Athleague 1-18

(After extra-time)

A brace of goals in the second-half of extra-time from Oisin Kelly and Dara Finn put Padraig Pearses on the road to victory in today's Roscommon SHC final.

Athleague had forced extra-time after Robbie Fallon's late goal and two Eamon Flanagan frees deep into injury-time left the scoreboard reading 0-16 to 1-13 at the end of 60 minutes, but they were unable to make the most of their second bite at the cherry.

There was never much between the teams in a tensely fought affair at Dr Hyde Park, Pearses got their noses in front again just before half-time in extra-time and the game was decided in the first 8 minutes of the second period when they plundered two goals. Daniel Glynn displayed unerring accuracy for the winners over the course of the contest, scoring 0-16 (six from play).
