Padraig Pearses (Roscommon) 3-7

Tourlestrane (Sligo) 0-6

Roscommon champions Padraig Pearses made their goals count this afternoon as they downed Tourlestrane to move into the last four of the Connacht club senior football championship.

Niall Carty’s goal after 10 minutes was what separated the sides after a drab opening half (1-2 to 0-3) at Markievicz Park and the visitors would take a real foothold in the contest seven minutes into the restart when Hubert Darcy coolly dispatched a penalty to Tourlestrane’s net.

Five minutes later the victors would be reduced to 14 men with the sending off of Lorcan Daly and, while a brace of points from Cathal Henry offered the hosts an outside chance, as a goal from Paul Carey, who finished with 1-6, in injury-time put the issue to bed.
