Offaly's Pat Teehan has joined Armagh's Jarlath Burns and Niall Erskine of Donegal in the race to succeed Larry McCarthy as GAA president.

Teehan and Burns were both nominated by their respective county boards last night, while Erskine was proposed by the Donegal county board in September. The election of the president-elect will take place at GAA Congress early in the New Year.

Coolderry clubman Teehan is the current Leinster Council chairman who previously served as provincial PRO and vice-chairman. He was Offaly chairman from 2008-2012 and also served as the county’s PRO for a number of years.

Offaly GAA chairman Michael Duignan said: “[Pat] is a hugely committed worker for the GAA who has developed the necessary knowledge and experience at all levels to drive the association forward in the coming years."
