B League Fixtures

(Oldest Posts First)

So here we are on a Monday with a series of league games scheduled for next weekend. While the A league fixtures have been set for a while - there are still no dates confirmed for this round o B league fixtures
I know people say the A league is treated badly but the B is way worse! Lads who work at weekends are going to find it very difficult to arrange shifts at this late stage - in our club we use b league to keep lads interested and involved - particularly younger lads - they are generally the ones most effected by shift hours etc!
Club players being treated poorly once again!

Maybe the mobile app is different but when I went in yesterday morning this weeks fixtures were still listed as TBC. I had 7 texts from lads on our team on Sunday evening wondering if I could confirm the day so not just me finding that issue.

ASaminthehand, you are correct the fixtures were not there until yesterday, although the planner had then scheduled for Saturday.

As was mentioned in one of the posts, the 2nd/3rd team/social player is completely forgotten about/taken for granted when it comes to fixtures. These are the players that you need to keep playing the game. This is where you player retention comes into play. Not at the first team level. First team players (well most anyways) are committed to the cause. The 2nd team player could be a young lad who is playing soccer as well. When he doesnt know whats happening with football and does with soccer, then he will decide to stop playing football altogether. That is the reality of what is happening now. This type of player does not continue to play.

Spot on Juicy - that is exactly my experience! I am trying to keep a group of young lads involved - they are not yet at the level to play first team but could be in a couple of years. They all work part time in pubs or restaurants and the weekends are where they get their shifts. Generally with a bit of notice they can arrange things but finding out on Monday before a game is often too late. Soccer seems to be at a set time every week!

And what about the rural clubs with small panels. Having b league the evening before A league is an absolute disgrace

Proven very difficult for clubs to field 2 teams for football at the weekend especially dual clubs . A lot of walkovers could happen with injuries another consideration

It's impossible to play 2 games one after another it seems like co board are just putting these fixtures out to cause the very problems we are talking about.walkovers etc.and then 10.30 in morning mother of god why not play it at 8 clk Sunday morning.its to get stewards to inter county game.give me a break.

Dual players have no bearing on league fixtures they very reason they are on football only weekend is to keep it football one week hurling another.

The fact of the matter if clubs named honest 15s then only 1 or 2 players would have to line out twice instead of that lads in USA and Australia are named.

Clubs should not enter if they don't h a be numbers.

Nothing wrong with 10-30 start to all players officials supporters to get to navan to watch our county hopefully to get to division 1

Not to mention being able to get in to support the Ladies who play at 12.

Better to catch a good chunk of that game than none of it.

Think you are being harsh on smaller populated clubs who try to field 2 teams in Football leagues to try to give all the lads match time. Not sure if your suggestion of not entering is any type of solution or any help at all .
