Relegated with a whimper. It has all gone horribly wrong this season, same players with Jack Regan and James Toher brought back from the hurling wilderness, so one would say a stronger squad. So why has it gone pear shaped ? we only beat two teams this season Kildare and London. I can't remember when we last won a game, beaten in all five matches in the Joe MacDonagh cup and the last three games in the league. So we have a stronger squad this season and our results are terrible, I cant get my head around this. Team did not look fit in the championship this year, they looked slow and lartagic when other teams were flying. The S&C coach has a lot to answer for after all its his job to have the team fit. Back to Christy Ring cup now next year but the Ring cup is now a third tier competition, it was a second tier competition when Ennis and his lot won it two years ago.
Fact of the matter is the 2 teams parachuted into the Joe McDonagh will most likely be back in Christy ring. Antrim for some reason where promoted and meath after being relegated last year got a reprieve because of that. Reality is we are back where we are comfortable after 2 years struggling at tier 2 ... meath are a typical yo-yo team big hype about wining tier 3 followed by relegation a year or 2 later.
For a county with so many hurling clubs this is not good enough
