Seamie Brady with St Colmcilles members during the fundraising Car Wash in Piltown

St Colmcilles organised a very successful Car Wash on Sunday 4th December in Piltown with all proceeds going to the #kickapointforseamie fundraiser for Seamie Brady, a lifelong member of St Colmcilles East Meath neighbours St Marys.

Seamie has been actively involved as player, coach and volunteer at the Donore club where his father Jimmy was a founding member. It was in his capacity as a hard-working volunteer that Seamie fell from the Clubhouse roof at St Mary’s grounds in September 2015. Such was the severity of Seamie’s injuries that he has been unable to work since and unfortunately is unlikely to ever work again. It’s difficult for all of us to imagine a scenario where having headed down to your local club to help out, you end up leaving with life limiting injuries and find yourself in financial ruin.

The GAA has been built on selfless volunteerism and Seamie's dedication to his club and community represents everything that is great about our organisation. Although strong rivalries exist on the field of play, the support shown by St Colmcilles and the wider East Meath GAA community truly shows the GAA at its very best - a great example of living up to the organisation’s motto ‘Where We All Belong’.

St Colmcilles was delighted that Seamie could join its members on the day, and want to pay thanks to everyone who took part and supported the fundraiser. The Clubs executive have also agreed to match all funds raised on the day.
