Aoife Bennett keeps possession for St. Michaels during the Ladies Division 4 Minor Final

St. Michaels 0-07 Dunsany 1-05

Luck ran out for the St. Michaels minor ladies in their quest for this years division 4 minor championship honours as they came unstuck against a gritty and determined Dunsany side in Dunsany on Sunday afternoon last.

In a low scoring but very competitive contest It took a purple patch for the home side in the third quarter in which they hit 1-2 without reply that ultimately proved decisive. The opening 30 minutes was evenly balanced with St. Michaels holding a one point advantage at the break as Aoife Bennett posted all of her sides scores for a 0-3 to 0-2 interval lead.

Bennett and Claire Reilly stretched that lead to 3 points immediately after the restart, however back came Dunsany with 1-2 to take the lead for the first time in the 36th minute. Points from Bennett and Reilly followed to level the match for the third time but a converted free five minutes from the end of normal time sealed the deal for the home side. The St. Michaels girls did have opportunities to level the match in the remaining eleven minutes including six minutes of injury time but unfortunately it just wasn't to be their day.
