HL Div 1 final: Cole on fire as Trim stroll to victory

Trim 2-15 Kildalkey 1-9

Trim were crowned Meath Division 1 Hurling League champions with this very comfortable win over Jubilee Cup holders Kildalkey at Pairc Tailteann.

The Jubilee Cup holders were well below par and allowed the winners to control matters for most of the game.

Half forward Joey Cole impressed for the winners and finished with a personal tally of 2-6.

Cole got the scoreboard working for Trim and after 20 minutes the town side held a 0-6 to 0-4 lead. The game was decided in the remaining ten minutes as Trim outscoring Kildalkey seven points to one.

The tie was effectively put to bed in the opening minutes of the second half when Cole got the games first goal. Kildalkey replied with three points but Cole struck again for his second goal to open up a nine point lead. Veteran Podge Geoghegan managed to raise a green flag for the Village on the stroke of full time but the title was well and truly Trim’s.
