Matthew Halpin claims possession for St. Michaels against Meath Hill

St. Michaels 1-17 Meath Hill 0-13

St. Michaels greater scoring threat eventually proved the difference as they booked a place in the division 2A final with Syddan when they overcame Meath Hill's stubborn challenge in a captivating and intense final round match in balmy Meath Hill last evening.

The sides were on level terms twice in the opening eight minutes with the winners scores coming from Oran Meehan and J.B. O'Reilly, A good move involving Meehan and Jakub Bidzinski put Shane McDonnell through on goal and he sent an unstoppable shot to the roof of the net for the only goal of the game on 11 minutes.

Both sides traded points up to the interval, one being an exceptional effort from McDonnell who collected the Meath Hill kick-out in the middle of the field and made a bee-line for the goals and tapping it over the black spot. Matthew Halpin, Brian O'Reilly, Ciaran Lynch and Oran Meehan were others who helped give St. Michaels a five point cushion at the break, 1-10 to 0-8.

Meehan again opened the scoring in the new half and he followed up six minutes later with his sixth point of the evening before Lynch (3), Bidzinski (1) and substitute Eoghan Finegan (1) finished out the game for St. Michaels.
