Warm praise for CCC

Carnaross and Castletown meet in the opening round of the JFC

THE publication of the dates, times and venues for games in the group stages of the football and hurling championships by the CCC came in for warm praise from a number of delegates at last night’s county committee meeting.

Malachy Plunkett (Carnaross) said he wanted to commend the CCC for the way the fixtures were planned and released to clubs. O’Mahonys delegate Liam Kerrane and Dunsany’s Brendan Cummins echoed the Carnaross’ delegate’s sentiments.

Chairman John Kavanagh said it was welcoming that the efforts of the CCC were being recognised.

Fixtures secretary Damien Griffin said the CCC was looking to finish the Premier Football Championship prior to the start of the junior and intermediate football championship. Griffin said a number of clubs had expressed concern that they might not be able to field in the Premier Championship if they weren’t finished before the start of the other championships.

The weekend of June 24/25th has been pencilled in for a number of A football league deciders.

The next meeting of the county committee is scheduled for Monday, July 4th and will be held online if there is ‘nothing too important’ to discuss.
