Alan Douglas raises the Leinster Club IFC, The Mattie McDonnell and The Jubilee Cups at Pairc Tailteann

It has been one hell of a rollercoaster ride for Trim GAA this past six months.

The beginning of August saw the Town side claim the delayed 2020 Meath senior hurling championship title after a 20 year wait. Three months later they were back in the winners enclosure with the Mattie McDonnell Cup after two years of disappointments and yesterday the Reds completed a remarkable journey when winning their first ever provincial title at Clara’s expense.

One player central to all these achievements is captain fantastic Alan Douglas.

The dual star scored the last two points in extra time as Trim saw off Ratoath in the SHC final. The county hurler also picked up the Man of the Match Award after that thrilling victory.

Fast forward to November and the talented forward kicked two points as Trim made up for previous disappointments to claim the Meath IFC title at the expense of Oldcastle.

Three wins later and the Trim squad were back in Pairc Tailteann for more silverware. Offaly champions Clara were put to the sword as the Town side became the fourth Meath club to claim the Leinster title and set up an All Ireland semi final date with  St Faithleach's (Roscommon). Although red carded by referee John Hickey, Douglas was on hand to raise a third piece of silverware for the club in six months at the Navan venue.
