Boardsmill's Niall Durkan

Boardsmill 8-17 St. Marys 1-5

Boardsmill travelled to Donore to take on St. Mary's in the second round fixture of the Tailteann Cup, Group B.

St. Mary's hosting the 'Mill lads on the back of a good win over St. Paul's the previous week. The boys in blue travelled on the back of their good return versus Clonard in the first round, both sides looking to improve.

Boardsmill got off the mark very quickly with the first of a brace of goals by Niall Durkan who put in a superb performance throughout the match. Niall, recently named captain of the side, led from the front and finished his scoring tally 2-06. Going into the first water break the Boardsmill lads had converted three goals, with Kyle Dixon and Fergal Flattery getting off the mark. St. Mary's had popped off some scores and the sides went into the break 3-03 to 0-05. After this the Boardsmill lads turned on the flare and kept the home side scoreless bar a converted penalty in the dying minutes of the game. Goals from Keith Hamilton, Fergal Flattery, Niall Durkan and James Durkan (2-00) secured the victory for the Boardsmill lads. The Boardsmill lads have amassed a huge scoring tally of 10-39 in their last two games. Here's hoping the boys can keep the momentum up for the rest of the year.
