Donie Vaughan has called time on his Mayo career after 12 years

Mayo county board chairman Liam Moffatt has thanked Donal Vaughan for his “outstanding commitment” to Mayo.

Vaughan called time on his inter-county career earlier today after 12 years in the green and red of Mayo, during which time he won five Connacht senior football championship titles and a National League crown.

Speaking on behalf of Mayo GAA, Moffatt praised the Castlebar Mitchel’s clubman for delivering “so many outstanding performances” during his Mayo career.

“On behalf of Mayo GAA I would like to thank Donal for his outstanding commitment to Mayo GAA over the last 12 years,” Moffatt is quoted saying on mayogaa.com.

“Donal delivered so many outstanding performances and did so as the consummate team player. He endeavoured to improve himself on and off the pitch and his drive and positive approach made him a cornerstone of a hugely competitive Mayo team.

“Finally I would like to wish Donal & his family all the best in 2021 and beyond.”
