Mullinalaghta's Patrick Fox celebrates

Mullinalaghta St Columba’s reclaimed their place at the top of Longford’s football table with an impressive 0-15 to 0-6 win against Mostrim in today’s SFC final at Pearse Park.

The 2018 Leinster club champions were superb defensively over the hour and could've been more than 0-6 to 0-3 in front at half-time had Jayson Matthews put away what was a glorious goal chance laid on by Aidan McElligott just before the break.

Matthews, Cian Mackey and Gary Rogers had registered points in the first-half which helped Mullinalaghta lead by three at the interval and they’d turn the screw early in the second-half.

The first three points of the restart went to the would-be winners prior to Darragh Doherty stopping the rot for Mostrim.

David McGivney landed a brace of points for Mullinalaghta and, after reducing the margin to five with a 50th minute mark, Seamus Hannon would pick up a second caution that saw the trailers finish with 14 men.

The closing stages belonged to Mullinalaghta and it was James McGivney, Gary Rogers and ‘Man of the Match’ Mackey that converted their possession, securing a sixth senior crown for the club.
