Emmet Og club notes

October 01, 2019

Junior Championship:

Hard luck to the Killoe Junior championship team who lost out in the final by just 1 point. Final Score Killoe 1-8 Kenagh 0-12. Kenagh had the better start to the game and after 15 minutes they led by 3 points to no score . Killoe had some good chances from frees to be a lot closer at the break but ended up at the break trailing on a scoreline of Killoe 0-2 Kenagh 0-6. The second half started with a Kenagh point but Killoe came back with the only goal of the game from David McCarthy to leave Killoe trailing by just 2 points. After 15 minutes of the second half the sides were level Killoe 1-6 Kenagh 0-9. With 5 minutes left on the clock Kenagh were ahead by 1. Soon after another Killoe point levelled the game. There was 6 minutes of injury time and the game was in the balance when Kenagh got the winning point. A very gallant effort from all our players.

We would like to thank the management team of Kevin Dooner, John Fitzsimons, Mark Mimnagh and John Reilly for all their time and efforts.

We would like to wish a speedy recovery to Thomas Reilly who picked up a nasty injury in the game.

Senior Championship:

Next Sunday afternoon we take on Longford Slashers in the Peter Hanley sponsored Senior Championship final in Pearse Park Longford. Throw in is 4pm. We wish the best of luck to Thomas Donohoe his management team and all panel members. Lets hope next Sunday evening we will be celebrating with the Connolly Cup coming back to the parish. We would ask that the whole parish will get behind the team and that they can be the 16th man to get us over the line.

Condolences:

The club extends sincere sympathy to the family of Tom O'Leary Ballinalee who died recently. Tom was a member of the Killoe 1960 panel that won the Sean Connolly that year. The club held a guard of honour at Tom's funeral on Tuesday as a mark of respect.

The club also extends sincere sympathy to Cormac O'Reilly and family Kilnaleck Cavan on the death of his mother Bernadette recently. Cormac is a member of our Junior team and as a mark of respect we held a minutes silence before the Junior family on Sunday.
