Rathkeale GAA Club

Junior A Hurlers

It’s been a relatively decent start to the Junior A Hurling Championship for our hurlers who have played two games, winning and losing a game. In the opening round, we suffered a heavy defeat to Castletown\Ballyagran, conceding a couple of unfortunate goals on the night always made it an uphill battle.

In Round 2, we played much better, beating Staker Wallace on a scoreline of 2-16 to 2-10. We currently sit in 4th place within the group. Up next in round 3 is Ballybrown, which will be played on Sunday, September 19th with a throw in time of 5.00pm in Askeaton. Best of luck to all the players and management.

Intermediate Footballers Qualify for Quarter Final

Well done to our Intermediate Footballers who enjoyed a good start to their Championship Campaign. In the opening round they forced a draw with St Patricks in a low scoring affair, which finished 2-03 to 0-09. Last Tuesday they played out another draw with Mungret, in what was a much improved performance, final score in round 2 was 0-11 apiece. This result was enough to qualify for the Quarter Final, which is scheduled for Kilbready next Thursday evening, September 23rd with a throw in time of 7.30pm. Best of luck to all the players and management.

Bord na nOg

Well done to our U15 Footballers who played a tremendous second half of football to overcome Monaleen in the County A Semi Final. Cappagh Rathkeale trailed at the half time break by 6 points, however with a superb final 30 minutes of football, they ran out worthy winners on a scoreline of 4-10 to 2-11. Well done to all involved and best of luck in the final. Fr Casey’s will provide the opposition, date, time and venue TBC.
