Book launch of Askeaton-Ballysteen GAA Story 1884-2020

A book by Paul Anglim documenting over 130 years of GAA activity in the parish of Askeaton-Ballysteen will be launched by well known sports journalist, Matt O’Callaghan  on 19th September at 4pm at the Ballysteen Sportsfield.

The 448 page hardback is the culmination of nearly a decade of research by the author, Paul Anglim. The hard backed book which has over 350 images and 560 references is produced to the highest quality and is sure to become a collectors item. The book will be retailing at €20, with all profits going to Askeaton-Ballysteen-Kilcornan Bord na nÓg.

Every patron can collect their book on the day of the launch. Books will be for sale on the day of the launch and after that they will be on general sale in the local shops. There is a limited amount of books so get yours early to avoid disappointment.

Junior Football

Our Junior Footballers made it two from two in the West championship with a convincing 1-15 to 0-2 win over St Senans. Joey Rushe got our goal on the night with Maurice Somers adding five points as the boys gave an exhibition of shooting. We now move on to face Knockaderry in the West semi-final.

Club Limerick Draw

The next Club Limerick draw takes place on September 25 with the star prize an Apple Ipad! The top prize every month is €10,000 with 28 other cash prizes every month with 50% going back to clubs!

Win a Kuga

Limerick GAA in association with Lyons of Limerick Ford Store have teamed up to give one lucky supporter the chance to follow their county team in style. An all new 212 Ford Kuga Titanium Hybrid Automatic, is up for grabs.

All proceeds from the “Win A Kuga”  draw with Limerick GAA will be reinvested in county hurling and football teams representing Limerick from minor right through to Senior grades. Tickets are being sold online at winakuga.ie at €20 each and the single lucky winner will be announced on 25th September where they will be presented with the keys to a brand new Ford Kuga Titanium.

Service to the Elderly

Ballysteen GAA along with Askeaton GAA & Askeaton/Ballysteen/Kilcornan Bord na nÓg GAA wish to offer our services to the eldery and the most vulnerable in our community during this current time and throughout the weeks ahead.

All three clubs are coming together to give back to our community that has supported us throughout good times and bad. We will be offering to help anyone who requires shopping, prescriptions, fuel etc to be collected on their behalf and delivered to their doorstep.

We will support local businesses to help keep our local community going. Listed below are our coordinators numbers. You can ring or text these numbers and we will organise assistance thereafter. Best hygiene practices will be used by our volunteers during the delivery of this service. Thanks to everyone who is volunteering as part of this. Every little helps in the sustainment and sense of community amongst ourselves.
