A superb second half fightback full of work rate and no little skill ensured that Dromcollogher/Broadford prevailed in a tight game over Crecora/Manister on Sunday evening in Croagh. This result gives Dromcollogher/Broadford two points and leaves us tied at the top of the group with Caherline and Ballybricken/Bohermore who we face next weekend in Round 2.

 

Cathal O’Neill scored the Crecora/ Manister scored the first two pointed frees and then Dromcollogher/ Broadford replied with three points and these points came from tow long range strikes from James Molyneaux and Keith Lacey before Michael O’Sullivan flicked one over to lead by a point.  Crecora/ Manister replied with three points to lead by a point and then Dromcollogher/ Broadford replied with a point coming Damien Burke who was getting on a lot of early ball to bring sides back on level terms for third time during the game.  Niall Moloney of Crecora/ Manister scored a goal with 16 minutes gone in the game and then Derry McCarthy with pointed frees for Dromcollogher/ Broadford to leave a point between the sides. Crecora/ Manister took control and scored the next five points to lead six points and then Dromcollogher/ Broadford replied with a pointed free coming from Derry McCarthy to leave five points between the sides. Cathal O’Neill of Crecora/ Manister and Micheál Brosnan of Dromcollogher/ Broadford exchanged points with Michael’s coming from a mazy run from his own half back line. Derry McCarthy then scored a pointed free for Dromcollogher/ Broadford to leave five points between the sides.  Michael Bateman of Crecora/ Mainster scored the next point to put six points between the sides and then Dromcollogher/ Broadford scored the next point coming from James Molyneaux his second of the game from a tight angle to leave five points between the sides at the break.  To leave the score at half-time Crecora/ Manister 1-13 to Dromcollogher/ Broadford 0-11.

 

Crecora/ Manister scored the first two points of the second half to lead by seven points and then Dromcollogher/ Broadford gained a foothold in the game again with next two points to leave five points between the sides and these points came from Keith Lacey and Derry McCarthy.  Cathal O’Neill scored another point for Crecora/ Manister to leave six points between the sides and then Dromcollogher/ Broadford took over driving forward and forcing the opposition into errors which were capitalised on by the scoring the next nine points to lead by three points and these points came from Derry McCarthy five points, Shane Murphy in his comeback with two great points, substitute Jack Pierce who made a super impact, and Séan O’Sullivan who put the side ahead with an inspirational score.  Cathal O’Neill of Crecora/ Mainster and Derry McCarthy of Dromcollogher/ Broadford exchanged pointed frees late in the game to leave three points between the sides once again.  To leave the score at full-time Dromcollogher/ Broadford 0-23 to Crecora/ Mainster 1-17.

Dromcollogher/ Broadford GAA Club Lotto Draw

The following are the Results of the Lotto Draw that took place on the 06-09-2021, and the numbers were: 5, 11, 14, 16. There was no winner of Jackpot at €2,900 and there was two winners of the match three at €100 and they each got €50 and they were: Danielle O’Carroll, Australia and Pat Curtin, Dromcollogher and the Lucky Dips at €50 each were: Bernie Madigan, Dromcollogher and Damen Cahill, Dromcollogher and next week’s draw will take place Monday 13-09-21, in the GAA Field, Dromcollogher and the Jackpot will be going up to €3,100 and the Match Three will be staying at €100.

 

Lotto tickets are available in local shops in the area where the boxes are provided and also available for sale in the local square on Friday and Saturday mornings from 9am to 1pm.

 

New Defibrillator and Defibrillator Training

 

On behalf of Dromcollogher/Broadford GAA we would like to thank everyone that contributed to our fundraiser to purchase our new defibrillator and heated storage box. We now have a new LIFEPAK CR2 Defibrillator stored in a heated Defibstore 4000 Polycarbonate box and it is positioned on the front wall of our clubhouse.

Dromcollogher/Broadford GAA would like to train all of our community in how to use the defibrillator, especially given what has happened in recent times. We think everyone should avail of this opportunity. If you are interested in availing of this training for free please contact one of the following club members:
