Senior Football

Our senior side returned to action on Tuesday night as they hosted the current senior football champions Adare in the first round of the West Senior Football League. After a brilliant hour of football, the visitors came out victorious with a 1-14 to 0-12 win. There were plenty of positives for Ballysteen with David O’Shaughnessy making his debut for the senior side and Pa Ranahan’s return from injury after missing the entirety of the 2020 season. Next up for the lads is Fr Caseys on Friday night in Ballysteen at 7.30pm. Again, 100 spectators are permitted with social distancing protocols to be adhered to.

Team: Brian Neville, Eddie Murphy, Kevin McMahon, Bill Casey, Luke Gammell, Pakie Moran, Cillian Ferris, Jamie O’Sullivan, Sean Whelan, Declan Guerin, Pa Ranahan, William O’Meara, David O’Shaughnessy, Shane Hallinan, Mark Ranahan. Subs: Alan McGrath, Tomas Sheahan, Paul O’Shaughnessy, Shane Gallagher, Eoin Condon

Junior Football

Our second side team kicked off the West Junior League with a narrow 3-7 to 2-11 loss to St Senans in Foynes on Wednesday evening. The sides were level at the break but the hosts held on for a one-point win despite great Ballysteen pressure late on. They now face Mountcollins this Wednesday evening at 7.30pm in Ballysteen. As with the senior game, 100 spectators are permitted.

Team: Brian Neville, Eoin Condon, Paul Doyle,  Dec Ryan, Niall Barry, Eddie Murphy, Jonathan Hartigan, David Holland, Cathal McDaid, Sam Duggan, Jack Neville, Kevin Barry, Pakie Neville, Maurice Somers, Jamie Moran. Subs: Fiachra Butler, Darragh Leonard.

All three clubs are coming together to give back to our community that has supported us throughout
